Economic Overview & Forecast
Michael Gregory, Senior Economist and Managing Director of BMO Capital Markets will provide an overview of the state of the Canadian and global economies, as well as perspectives on the course of various economic sectors over the coming year.
Lender’s Perspectives
Senior lenders will discuss evolving trends, considerations and creative resolution strategies while collaborating with clients to achieve financial rehabilitation.
Alternate Restructurings
An esteemed panel of seasoned professionals will share insights on alternative restructurings, including those that fall under the CBCA, as well as out-of-court informal restructurings. There will be a focus on circumstances in which alternative restructurings are ideal and even preferable to formal court-supervised scenarios, with examples of recent use of these strategies and discussion of their outcomes.
US Perspective On The Canadian Insolvency System
During the past several years, Canadian insolvency practitioners and lawyers have been engaged in cross-border matters, which have provided practical experience and exposure to the US system, and vice-versa. A panel of US insolvency lawyers and financial experts will express their views on the Canadian system, which will include perceived strengths, weaknesses and key differences.
Mock Cross-Examination Of A Monitor
This session promises to be informative and entertaining as it looks at cross-examination of court appointed monitors. A discussion will take place regarding the issues and evolution of monitors' reports, and the question of if and when Monitors should be subject to cross-examination. The discussion will be followed by a mock scenario. You won’t want to miss seeing Blair Davidson (BDO) in the hot seat as he is examined by Orestes Pasparakis (Ogilvy) and defended by Aubrey Kauffman (Fasken).
